Simple Pessimism

Occam's razor is usually stated, "Of two equivalent theories or explanations, all other things being equal, the simpler one is to be preferred."

But for the pessimist, H.L. Mencken counters, "For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong."
