I signed an email to a dear friend with an emoticon the other day.
Last night he told me that it took him while to figure it out. He had to Google what the “less than sign and backwards epsilon” meant.
“Backwards epsilon?!? More commonly referred to as the number 3?!?” I said between laughs.
“Ummm… yeah,” he said as I continued to laugh. A while later while I was still laughing, “Is it that funny?”
“You’re special.” :)

This symbol, <3, shall henceforth be known as the "less than a backwards epsilon."

Just the thought of it still brings a smile to my face.
