I held a miracle today. A seven pound, hiccuping, marvel. My friends’ newborn daughter was Baptized this afternoon. She is truly a miracle. It’s amazing how captivating one who is entirely dependent upon others can be. During his homily, Father even noted how we might all be listening to him speak, but when she so much as cooed, she had everyone’s attention. It’s oh so true.
I am a nerd through and through. Apparently even at Baptism parties. When the little one fussed in my arms, I whispered the Guardian Angel prayer in her ear and quietly sang Panis Angelicus while walking and swaying. Her grandmother and aunt later sang a rousing rendition of Mary had a Little Lamb (and her granny even danced a little) to the soothe her. Both methods were moderately successful.
Smelling her sweet, annointed head as I held her close was a highlight in the past week. I never cease to be amazed by how good all creation seems when gazing at a newborn, majestic mountains, or a beautiful sunset. God graciously grants us these glimpses at the front side of the tapestry to sustain us when we are mired in the daily tangled web on the reverse.
Thank God for these blessings.

Amen to that! It's what gets me through day to day.
