Clean sweep

I hate cleaning day. I have seniority so I bear a significant amount of responsibility even though someone else is safety officer. I don’t mind the cleaning so much as the attitudes.

“I didn’t make it dirty.”
“Washing glassware is my least favorite thing.”
“But [someone else] uses that more than I do.”
Why can’t everyone just work diligently for two hours? Then it would be done. Since we moved into the new space two months ago, the baseline is sparkly clean and there hasn’t been much time to make a mess.
Honestly, if everyone were to pay a little more attention to things on a daily basis, there would hardly be anything to take care of on cleaning day. Your workspace should not be so trashed that you spend the entire day just setting that right.
*sigh*

If you say that you’ve removed everything from a fridge, I should not see samples and other stuff when I open it up. But when I go talk to you about it, you actually have a good reason for what you have/haven’t done. Really! Couldn’t you have just told me that in the first place? It would have saved us both some time and frustration.
*sigh*

After vetoing Monday as cleaning day, Bossman moved it from the usual morning time to the afternoon because he had meetings. Then 1-2:30 was further reduced. Seriously, he was there from 1-1:10. Yup, a whole 10 minutes. Not nearly long enough to do anything other than say “Hi.” Why bother gracing us with your presence?
*sigh*

*grrrrrrr* to the non-team players
And hearty thanks to those who rise to the occasion.

Boy--10 minutes, huh? Whadda example! That could be a part of the problem, huh?

Chin up--smile and whistle while you work.
I've always found toys and a bit of play goes a very long way.
And jazzy music to clean by never hurts!

Oh, but I do hear ya......whatever happened to personal responsibility and pride in the appearance of your workplace?
