Baby basil
My back porch plants did not fare well last summer. Unripened tomatoes were stolen off the vines (I suspect the squirrels), squash blossoms shriveled without producing fruit, and the herbs growing in this pot were repeatedly dug up (I suspect by my neighbor's cat). This year I have take serious precautionary measures to protect my basil. The cage is open at the top, but jagged, and almost 2 feet high.
I want fresh herbs and am prepared to take extraordinary measures to protect my scaled-back urban gardening efforts this summer.

Oh, well worth the lengths, methinks.
Fresh herbs are so much nicer than dried, processed, and bottled ones.
